While classic blue might be the official color of 2020, green dials continue to be this years great luxury watch trend, and German brand Glashutte Original has announced a forest green dial variant of its signature PanoMaticLunar moonphase watch as part of its 2020 novelty announcements. While recently explored the modern PanoMaticLunar series in an extensive hands-on review, this new forest green iteration breathes new life and a verdant personality into one of Glashutte Originals signature offerings.Brand:?Glashutte Original Model:?PanoMaticLunar in forest greenDimensions:??40mm x 12.7mmCase Material:?stainless steel Crystal/Lens:?sapphire with double anti-reflective coatingMovement:? manufacture Calibre 90-02 automatic three-hand moon phase big date movementFrequency:?28,800 bphPower Reserve:?42 hoursStrap/Bracelet: brown alligator nubuck leather strap/stainless steel three-link braceletPrice Availability:?9,500 (leather strap with pin buckle), 9,800 (leather strap with folding clasp), 10,900 (bracelet), available June 2020While the 40mm stainless steel form should be familiar to the brands faithful, a simple change of dial color has helped the Glashutte Original PanoMaticLunar in forest green to feel substantially more contemporary than some of its stablemates. The brand has gone to impressive lengths to create its ideal degrade effect with the color, creating each dial with a three-step process. Firstly, the entire surface of the dial is coated in a layer of galvanic nickel, followed by a coat of opaque black lacquer carefully sprayed around the edge. Finally, the forest green color is sprayed on in multiple transparent layers to allow the brightness of the nickel to shine through and contrast with the black edges. With this natural green tone combined with steel hands, indices, and complications, the overall effect is far less ostentatious and more modern, without giving up any of the PanoMaticLunars upright Germanic design precision. The tobacco brown of the strap helps to reinforce the naturalistic tone, but alligator rather than calfskin feels left-field with the softer matte texture of nubuck. With this latest addition to the cornerstone PanoMaticLunar line, Glashutte Original further cements its current foray into adventurous dial colors. With green as the color of the moment in watchmaking, this stands out as one of the most refined offerings of the current trend. The Glashutte Original PanoMaticLunar in forest green will be available through Glashutte Original boutiques in June 2020 at an MSRP of 9,500 with the leather strap and pin buckle, 9,800 with the leather strap and folding clasp, and 10,900 paired with a three-link bracelet.
