Welcome back to an original feature, My First Grail Watch. In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. (ABTW): Who are you and what is your relationship to the watch industry? Roland G. Murphy (RGM): I am the man and watchmaker behind RGM Watch.ABTW: What was your first grail watch?RGM: It was a Patek 3970 back in the 1980s. I did get one used that needed work, I repaired it and sold it back in the early 90s.ABTW: Was there ever a time in your life when you could afford it? RGM: Yea, in the early 1990s.ABTW: What did you like so much about the watch?RGM: The complications and the classic look.ABTW: Did you ever get it?RGM: For a while, and then sold it.Editors Note: Roland also referenced their older RGM 103R model, which he believes took the 3970 design and made it even grander.[Update: July 8, 2014 While we value the quality of their product, in light of recent events, will no longer cover RGM products and cannot endorse RGM as a company.
