Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 36th Americas Cup Limited-Edition Watch

Omega just announced it will be the Official Timekeeper of the 36th Americas Cup sailing competition (while continuing its longstanding partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand AKA ETNZ) and, naturally, theyve got a limited-edition watch to mark the occasion. The new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 36th Americas Cup Limited-Edition watch is quite an attractive take on the PO with a red, white, and blue color scheme and some design touches that are unique to this LE. While there have been plenty of Planet Ocean limited editions (Olympics and Michael Phelps come to mind),? its the first for the Americas Cup, which has had two chronographs in the past. They were idiosyncratic ones at that, with the Speedmaster X-33 Regatta ETNZ and a Seamaster Diver 300M piece. The Planet Ocean 36th Americas Cup LE will be limited to 2,021 pieces.SPECIFICATIONS:Brand: OmegaModel: Seamaster Planet Ocean 36th Americas Cup LEDimensions: 43.5mm-wide, ~16mm-thick, 49mm lug-to-lugWater Resistance: 600 metersCase Material: SteelCrystal/Lens: sapphireMovement: Omega 8900Power Reserve: 60 hoursStrap/Bracelet: Rubber strapPrice Availability: $7,050 I own the standard Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M on rubber strap (black and orange colorway) so Im quite familiar with what this Americas Cup LE should wear and feel like. Frankly, these are top-notch in their finishing and quality (gives omega a real run for its money), and the rubber strap is one of the most comfortable out there. The case is a little thick, but the water resistance and in-house METAS-certified movement provide at least some justification there. The touches unique to this LE are plenty: the white and red scale on the bezel followed by the START text, the race logo as the seconds hand counterweight (which I have a feeling will be love or hate), the red strip of lume on the hour hand, and lets not forget what may be my favorite part - the white dial. Also, the blue and red rubber strap is unique to this piece, and there is an Americas Cup logo embossed on the sapphire crystal on the caseback.Again, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 36th Americas Cup Limited Edition will be limited to 2,021 pieces and priced at $7,050 USD.
