As Hermes fends off attacks from LVMH to retain its independence they also continue to push forward with their prowess as watch makers. For 2011 their horological focal point is the Arceau Le Temps Suspend watch. That literally means time suspended, and that is exactly what it does. The watch has been in development for a few years now. Mainly because they couldnt get it to work until they enlisted Mr. Fix-It Jean-Marc Wiederrecht. For me Jean-Marc will always primarily be one of the MBF Friends. [...]
Having produced five thinnest world records in four years, Bulgaris watchmaking division is best known for its record-breaking micro-thin movements. It is, thus, sometimes easy to forget that Bulgari is primarily a jewelry company and, as such, a master of the high-jewelry watch. Founded in 1884 by Sotirio Bulgari, the company has been making watches, including jewelry watches, for decades. The latest Bulgari Serpenti Misteriosi Pallini is typical of the Bulgari style, which is to say it is not [...]
Last December during Art Basel 2014, I had a chance to meet and take some photographs of Serena Williams. She was visiting the Audemars Piguet VIP booth at the show, and is a newer ambassador of the brand. What struck me then was how passionate and into watches she seemed. With her recent win at the Australian Open, her 19th grand slam single title, Serena Williams continues her assaults at the record books and further cementing her place as the most dominant player in the past two decades and m [...]
This Breitling Superocean Heritage Chronoworks watch costs about $40,000. If you havent already noticed, pricing doesnt always seem to make sense in the watch world. There are times when otherwise interesting watches are marred by having retail prices which simply confound the consumers sense of reason. Sometimes those prices are actually too high, and other times the prices are fair but the consumer doesnt understand or appreciate the reason for the high cost. In either event, pricing practices [...]
Breitling?has released a brand new version (available now) of the legendary Aerospace watch for 2013 called the Aerospace Evo. Breitling originally released the Aerospace in 1985 under the Navitimer collection to be a high-end quartz watch that contained an ETA-made analog-digital movement called the SuperQuartz. The idea was for the Aerospace to be a super accurate futuristic flight watch, and at the time it certainly was. For 2013 the Aerospace Evo undergoes a minor evolution from the last Aer [...]
The new complication here in the Richard Mille RM 030 is quizzical to me. The idea is that the automatic rotor detaches from winding the mainspring is full. The mainspring has a total power reserve of 50 hours, when it gets down to 40 hours, the rotor reattaches thanks to a type of clutch. Why? To theoretically assist with keeping the movement as safe as can be. Leave it to the people who make watches for use in tennis matches to consider the happiness of little machines. The irony makes me smil [...]
Although the brands beloved line of $1 toy cars may not seem like the most obvious candidate for a luxury watch brand partnership at first glance, Mattels Hot Wheels series has been a gateway into the automotive world for millions of children across the globe for generations. With this level of cultural power behind it, IWCs latest partnership for its in-house IWC Racing motorsports team has the potential to garner global attention for the organization as it competes for the prestigious Stirling [...]
For 2015, on the Caribbean Island of St. Barthelemy, the colorful blue and orange accented on white strap Richard Mille RM 60-01 Automatic Flyback Chronograph Regatta Les Voiles de St. Barth limited edition watch becomes the latest equatorial treat from Switzerlands highest-end modern sport watch. I travel to the exclusive island getaway in what is sometimes still called the West Indies to experience the Les Voiles de St. Barth regatta race, now in its sixth year, with title sponsor Richard Mill [...]
A few months ago, I had a chance to sit down here in Los Angeles with actor and comedian Joel McHale at an event he was doing with Glashutte Original. McHale isnt an ambassador of the brand, but rather a fan who the brand decided was pretty nice to have around at various events. Ive run into Joel at a few other watch gatherings here in L.A. and have enjoyed getting to chat with him about timepieces and other things he is into (like wine).I recall years ago watching Joels wrist carefully on telev [...]

Since Grahams founding in 1995, the brand has been most identified by and associated with its Chronofighter and its immediately recognizable chronograph trigger. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the brand, Graham released this limited edition Chronofighter Vintage 25th Anniversary watch that also happens to be one of its most restrained and wearable pieces released in recent memory.Found on the left side of the case of the Graham Chronofighter watches, the chronograph trigger is inspired by [...]

The A. Lange Sohne Datograph, a watch I am very fond of, gets some new additions for SIHH 2015, including a version of the Datograph in 18k rose gold as well as this A. Lange Sohne Datograph Perpetual which adds a perpetual calendar to the chronograph, date, and power reserve complications. When I last visited the newer 41mm wide sized version of this German beauty, I reviewed the platinum A. Lange Sohne Datograph Up/Down here.A. Lange Sohne is setting themselves up for a long line of Datogr [...]
With their new Carl Brashear Limited Edition dive watch, Oris pays tribute to the U.S Navys first African-American Master Diver, the thoroughly impressive Carl Brashear. With a classic and clean diver aesthetic rendered in bronze, this limited edition piece expands upon the success of the Oris Divers Sixty Five, which was announced at Basel last march. There is no shortage of tribute and themed limited edition watches out there, but its especially refreshing to see the Oris Carl Brashear Limited [...]
Sponsored post presented on for advertiserThe ultimate test of a divers watch, of course, is its ability to perform in harsh underwater conditions. Watchmakers test for this with water resistance ratings and pressure tests, but theres no more thorough test than real-world experience. Citizen is no stranger to pushing its timepieces to the limit of engineering, and there is perhaps no better demonstration of the real-world results of this cutting-edge durability than one found in Australia in 19 [...]
Say friend, are you looking for a fancy formal watch that isnt quite like anything else but wont make your friends do a double take? Well then Piaget might just have something for you. This new collection for 2012 is a sort of amalgamation watch taking into consideration design cues from many different Piaget timepieces including the Polo, Emperador, and Altiplano. It isnt round, it isnt a cushion, it isnt minimalistic, it isnt sporty. It is somewhere in between all these things and feels like P [...]
You could bash me over the head with a solid brick of faux-aged lume and I would probably say thank you. When obsession bites, it bites hard. And, in this case, it hasnt let go of me. The new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Barakuda watch has just dropped and it is an absolute beauty. The Fifty Fathoms star is burning as bright as ever, and we can expect the rush for this limited model to be more a stampede than an orderly procession. With just 500 units available and a relatively (relatively) reasonable [...]
Submersible QuarantaQuattro eSteelFor its Watches and Wonders 2022 releases, Panerai is adding a number of new models dubbed QuarantaQuattro to its Submersible collection of technical divers. Unlike many other models, the Submersible divers employ a traditional 60-minute uni-directional bezel, making them closer to a traditional dive watch. Panerai refers to the Submersible line as survival instruments, but the addition of quattro in the model name refers to the four pillars of the Panerai brand [...]
Sponsored Post written for by advertiserWhen Bell Ross goes vintage, its design codes take on a military quality, with an obvious commitment to the utility, design, and function of watches that are built for important missions. The three new models in the BR V2 series are a tribute to military wristwatches for land, air and sea. All three are equipped with NATO Stretch straps that are made using authentic parachute straps, and the GMT and Automatic are available with satin-polished steel brace [...]
Much of the trend surrounding Bamford since its inception has been the democratization of its signature style. From its early days hand-customizing omega watches on commission, to working as an in-house customization service for brands like Zenith, to creating its own line of more affordable timepieces, the brand has consistently moved to make the blacked-out Bamford aesthetic more accessible to consumers. For its latest release, this philosophy has taken a major step forward, as Bamford has par [...]
